Bio
Patrick is a doctoral candidate at UMD studying atomic and optical physics with Trey Porto and Steve Rolston, using Rydberg ensembles for quantum optics and quantum networking applications. He has also contributed to the fields of single-photon detectors and the characteristics of polarization drift in optical fibers. He also enjoys teaching, with specific interest in students' metacognitive and epistemological reactions to quantum mechanics; is a member of a grad student mental health advocacy group at UMD; and is a Fellow at the UMD Graduate School Writing Center. He earned his B.S. from Denison University in central Ohio.
