Thomas Steckmann

Thomas Steckmann is a physics graduate student at the University of Maryland. He is a theorist focused on aspects of noisy quantum computing such as error mitigation, Hamiltonian simulation on NISQ systems, and learning information about noisy states. In particular, he develops methods which are hardware-aware and tailored to the specific limitations, strengths, and noise characteristics of a variety of quantum computing platforms. He is coadvised by Alexey Gorshkov and Michael Gullans, and is affiliated with the Joint Center for Quantum Information and Computer Science (QuICS) and the Joint Quantum Institute (JQI).
